SG2010: Triathlon Venex II

I am a fan of Triathlon so it is no surprise that I am involved in this sport for YOG.

I was awaken by the rain at 6am on Sunday, thinking “is this extreme weather?” Triathlon is an outdoor sport and only gets canceled under extreme weather. We have been reminded again and again to report at the venue even if it is raining when we wake up.

A fellow volunteer texted me at 7am, told me it was also raining heavily where she lives :P

Anyway the rain subsided so we headed for our respective competition venues.

Compared to the previous venue exercise at the National Sailing Center last Saturday, we learned something new and interesting this time.

We were taught how to direct the media to the Media Press Center and how to answer their questions diplomatically. I was standing quite far from the role players so I did not take any photo of it.

This is David, the Sports Manager for Triathlon. At first I thought he was wearing a new type of hat… realized later that it was a shower cap over a cap. So it was indeed a “Shower Cap”!

The site was not fully set up yet so we were a little lost among the containers and tentages.

How small is a container office? Check out the photos below.

Towards the finishing line… This is where the world will witness the first medal award for the first Youth Olympic Games!

Paula, the Media Press Center Manager giving the Youth Interpreters a run through what usually happens in the Mixed Zone.

Emma, the Head of Language Services dropped by our venue.

Despite the rain, we enjoyed ourselves. Oh by the way, items carrying logos like the big red tick will be banned during Games time!

距离新加坡2010青奥运 还剩10天!

We are 10 days away from Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games!
